CarbohydratesCarbohydrates are an alliance of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen and oxygen are in the same proportion like in water. Carbohydrates are builded in the plants by the co-operation of chlorophyll and sun light and are the main part of the plant's substance. One part of the carbohydrates is exploited directly in the human body, the other part is of great importance for the ingestine as a dietary fiber. For nutrition, sugar and starch are the two most important types of carbohydrates (for example monosaccharides, disaccharides, polysaccharides and cellulose). They are the main suppliers of energy for our muscles. The part of carbohydrates in a normal supply of calories makes up to 50 or 60 %. The most important providers of carbohydrates are cereal products, potatoes, sugar, legumes and vegetables. The averaged daily amount is about 300 or 500 g. For gaining an optimate supply you can eat carbohydrates before and after the training. The body can concentrate more on muscle forming and gain a maximum effect.
